OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL OPINION

An AI helper should explain the custody plan, not become part of its authority

Bitcoin Keeper’s support feature is interesting when it makes an already defined recovery arrangement easier to understand.

Bitcoin Keeper documents multisig, recovery, inheritance planning, and an Ask Keeper AI help feature. Ask Keeper explicitly tells users never to share seed words or private keys. Our editorial view is that these functions need a clear hierarchy. The custody arrangement should be defined and documented; an assistant can then help a user ask questions about it. We would not let conversational reassurance replace understanding of the actual signing and recovery policy.

The strongest fit is someone whose Bitcoin setup involves several keys, future recovery, or other people who need understandable instructions. The tradeoff is a richer planning environment against the attention required to keep the human plan and wallet configuration aligned. We would write the intended arrangement in plain language and compare every important element with the configured wallet. Assistance is useful when it exposes a misunderstanding early.

Before choosing Keeper, we would inspect current policy and recovery documentation and rehearse an unavailable-signer scenario with a test setup. We would also verify consequential answers from the AI help feature against primary instructions. These are proposed checks, not a completed custody review. Keeper earns our interest when support improves comprehension without blurring authority. The decisive outcome is a plan the intended participants can explain and carry out.
