OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL OPINION
The app and the signer deserve separate scrutiny
Ledger Wallet’s Bitcoin workflow should be evaluated around what the device confirms and what the application prepares.
Ledger documents Bitcoin account management through its wallet app and transaction signing on Ledger hardware devices. Our position is that a user should understand this division before choosing the setup. The app is part of the experience, but the moment of hardware approval deserves its own attention. A polished account view does not remove the need to know what is being confirmed on the signing device.
The strongest fit is someone who wants a packaged application-and-hardware workflow for Bitcoin. The tradeoff is convenient coordination against the responsibility to inspect the exact device, platform, and recovery arrangement being selected. We would identify which information the owner expects to verify at each step and compare that expectation with the current model's instructions. Product-family familiarity is not enough.
Our evaluation would use a small practice transaction, followed by a review of what happens if the usual computer or phone is unavailable. We would also confirm the compatibility and support terms for the intended hardware. This is a proposed evaluation, not a device test. Ledger Wallet earns a place when the owner can distinguish preparation, approval, and recovery clearly throughout the process.
