OUR TAKE / EDITORIAL OPINION
Treat the node API as an operating interface
LND deserves evaluation as infrastructure with explicit ownership, access, and recovery responsibilities.
LND documents a self-hosted Lightning node with channel and payment management, REST and gRPC interfaces, and beta status. We would begin with the application that intends to use those interfaces and the operator responsible for the node. A successful API call is only a small part of the requirement. The system also needs a clear account of who can invoke actions and how its state is understood after an interruption.
The strongest fit is a technical operator or team building a defined Lightning service. The tradeoff is direct control over node operations against the work of running infrastructure deliberately. Our proposed architecture review would separate read access, payment authority, and administration. We would also record the project's beta designation instead of allowing a familiar name to substitute for an assessment of the intended use.
An evaluation should rehearse restart and recovery procedures before the node becomes essential to another service. We would examine a failed payment and an unavailable dependency in a test environment, then inspect the records available to the operator. These are proposed checks, not test results. LND's appeal is programmability within a managed operating practice. That practice should be specified before the first production integration.

What is documented about AI?
Official material reviewed documents the product workflow, not AI features.
“No AI documented” means the checked sources do not establish an AI feature. It does not prove that the product uses no AI.
Pricing & access
The repository license grants use without a license charge; hosting, hardware, and channel-liquidity costs are separate and unverified.
